Curtis-Straus Opens
NEBS Environmental Simulation Laboratory
New Facility Concentrates In GR-63 Testing of Telecom
Central Office Products
(Littleton, MA - February 4, 2000) - Curtis-Straus has opened a new 9,100 sq. ft. laboratory at 168 Ayer Road in Littleton, Massachusetts to offer complete GR-63-CORE testing. Coupled with their existing laboratory which provides GR-1089-CORE testing, Curtis-Straus is now your one-stop-shop serving the NEBS testing community. Manufacturers of telecom central office equipment have long recognized Curtis-Straus as a leading expert in GR-1089-CORE testing. Now Curtis-Straus brings the same insight, technical expertise, and outstanding customer service to the GR-63-CORE physical protection portion of the NEBS test sequence.
The new facility features special accommodations for telecom central office equipment. A 400A 48VDC buss distributes power throughout the facility. Environmental chambers have been designed to accommodate tall telecommunications equipment racks with door openings of 8' height. The airborne contaminants chamber is designed to accommodate multiple rack samples to accommodate even the most demanding test schedule.
Potential clients of the new facility are encouraged to schedule a tour. Currently, the environmental, heat dissipation, drop, lighting, acoustic tests are provided directly by the new laboratory while the other tests are managed by Curtis-Straus and placed at qualified subcontracting laboratories. Curtis-Straus expects the fire resistance, altitude, and airborne contaminants tests to be performed at 168 Ayer Road by May. Earthquake simulation and vibration is expected in September.
At Curtis-Straus the job doesn't end with the delivery of the report. Due to the complexity of NEBS standards, often the Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC) representative reviewing the test report needs further interpretive guidance on particular aspects of a product's compliance. From Bell Atlantic to SBC, Curtis-Straus is familiar with the RBOCs and can help you explain your product's performance.
Interested parties are invited to call to arrange a tour of our facility or to discuss how Curtis-Straus can serve your NEBS testing needs.
