Curtis-Straus Named NRTL
OSHA confirms newest Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory in FR notice

(Littleton, MA – May 8, 2000) – In a Federal Register Notice dated May 8, 2000, OSHA has conferred on Curtis-Straus the status as a National Recognized Testing Laboratory effective immediately.  Curtis-Straus is now empowered to certify electrical products for use in the workplace to five national product safety standards covering Information Technology Equipment (UL1950), Medical Equipment (UL2601-1), Measuring Equipment (UL3111-1), Laboratory Equipment (UL3101-1), and Telephone Equipment (UL1459).  The recognition is limited to these types of products.

With this recognition, Curtis-Straus joins an elite group of laboratories known for their technical expertise in product safety certifications.   Curtis-Straus has an experienced product safety division which has for a number of years acted as an agent for their clients in obtaining NRTL marks from UL and CSA.  In addition to offering its own certification mark as required by OSHA, Curtis-Straus will continue to offer agent services to obtain the marks of other NRTLs.

Curtis-Straus’ elevation to NRTL status is a strong indication of the laboratory’s dedication to the maintenance of objectivity and impartiality, a critical role as a third party testing laboratory.  Curtis-Straus’ particular success in this area has been the dedication to outstanding customer service without compromising the highest of ethical standards.  Curtis-Straus remains the laboratory which can swiftly tell clients the plain truth about product noncompliance and efficiently help them evaluate options.

Curtis-Straus actively assists companies with regulatory compliance in the EMC, NEBS, Product Safety, Telecom and SEMI areas.  For more information or to schedule a tour, contact Jim Lewis at 978-486-8880.
