Curtis-Straus Designated TCB
FCC/NIST Designate Curtis-Straus as "Mini-FCC" in Public Notice

(Littleton, MA - June 5, 2000) - In an FCC Public Notice dated June 2, 2000, the Federal Communications Commission has conferred on Curtis-Straus the status as a Telecom Certification Body effective today. Curtis-Straus is now empowered to certify all telecom products subject to Part 68 and many types of licensed and unlicensed transmitters. Curtis-Straus is now empowered under 47 CFR 2.960 to issue grants of certification recognized by the FCC.

Curtis-Straus offers an expressway to FCC equipment authorization with a three day processing guarantee. The entire program is described in the TCB User's Manual available at the TCB Center on the company's web site at www.curtis-straus.com. Certain transmitters for which the FCC has significant RF exposure concerns cannot be approved under the TCB program currently. It is expected that this restriction shall be removed shortly as the FCC develops evaluation and test procedures. Similarly, new technologies must approach the FCC directly for approval. XDSL devices must obtain a waiver from the FCC prior to applying for FCC certification at the TCB.

Curtis-Straus' elevation to TCB status is a strong indication of the laboratory's competence. Curtis-Straus' particular success in this area has been the dedication to outstanding customer service without compromising the highest of ethical standards.

Curtis-Straus actively assists companies with regulatory compliance in the EMC, NEBS, Product Safety, Telecom and SEMI areas. For more information or to schedule a tour, contact Jim Lewis at 978-486-8880.
