Curtis-Straus LLC is ready to provide the required technical basis for CE marking your
product.
CE marking is required for all products shipped into or within the European Union (EU).
Customs officials look for the CE mark and the accompanying Declaration of
Conformity as evidence of compliance. The CE mark is a declaration that the product
meets all applicable EU Directives. Products without CE marking may be denied access
to the EU. In order to make the declaration, manufacturers or importers are required
to document that their products comply with the applicable EU Directives.
Curtis-Straus LLC can evaluate your product and provide test reports supporting your CE
marking. We also provide advice as to which Directives and standards are appropriate
for your product.
We can test most products to the following EU Directives:
- Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC
(formerly 89/336/EEC)
- Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC
- Machinery Directive 98/37/EEC
- Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive 98/13/EEC
- Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC
For most products, CE marking is allowed based on a manufacturers Declaration of
Conformity (DoC). Once testing is completed successfully at Curtis-Straus LLC, the
product may be immediately labeled with the CE mark and exported to any of the EU member
countries. Some products require the oversight of an EU-based Notified or Competent
Body. Curtis-Straus has developed close working relationships with Notified and
Competent Bodies to facilitate acceptance of these products.
